Coaching & Seminars for Fathers I never thought that much about Fathering until my wife and I had our first child. Then 3 years later we had our second child right after we moved to another city because I had accepted a transfer and promotion at work. Before you know it, my career is taking off, I’m spending lots of time at work and I’m traveling about 50% of the week. It dawns on me that I need to pay more attention to my children. After a few more years of giving our children more priority in my life I was fortunate to attend a seminar at my church titled, “The 7 Secrets of Effective Fathers” developed and led by the National Center for Fathering. I was extremely impressed with the research they had done to support their findings and the practical guidelines they recommended. After practicing their “Secrets” for a number of years I have been delighted with the response from my wife and children. My daughter is now a sophomore in college and my son is a junior in high school and I feel great about the role I have played and continue to play as their father. When I began my business and personal coaching business I decided that Fathering was such an important issue for me that it might well be important to my male client base and certainly appreciated by my female clients as well. It is not unusual for male or female clients to bring parenting issues to our sessions. To strengthen my skill base I went to the National Center for Fathering to be trained and authorized to lead and facilitate their fathering seminars. One seminar
is the one I mentioned before titled, “The 7 Secrets of Effective Fathers”,
and is designed for faith-based communities. The other seminar is titled
“Connecting with Your Kids, I-CANs” and is essentially the same material
designed for non faith-based settings such as schools, civic clubs etc.
Each of these seminars is an innovative training event which includes:
All of this material could also be covered in the context of Individual Coaching Sessions for clients who were interested in this area of development.
